The Isle of Wight is currently in a bid to attain Dark Sky Status, but even without official recognition the skies here are amazing. The south of the island especially boasts a high quality environment for stargazers. St. Boniface Down, the highest point on the island, holds unobstructed views of the sky, as well as views across the island.

Vectis Astronomical Society, based in Newchurch, holds monthly meetings with talks on astronomy, as well as their observatory being open every Thursday for any stargazers to take a peek! More information can be found on their website.
